Five on Five Project | September {Family Photographer | Lithia, FL }

motorcycle flying down broad streetSummer is fading away, which means back to more of a routine. For us, it’s even more routine than normal. My daughter decided she wanted to go to preschool, which means getting up to be somewhere 5 days a week, my son has 3 different homeschool classes, then throw in speech, dance, and baseball, holy cow. Now I know what you guys with kids in school and extra stuff feel like. It’s kinda crazy and we are pretty low key compared to lots of families. We can also foresee the cool weather of fall coming, at least it isn’t 93* at 3:00 am anymore which means I want to plan lots of camping trips for us.

Fall also will mean lots and lots of family photo sessions. Everyone will be planning their holiday cards sessions and my schedule will be picking up for sure. (so if you want in on this, let me know asap cause my spots are limited)

My mind and soul has been all over the place lately and honestly, I haven’t really wanted to pick up my camera for clients lately. I mean, I LOVE photographing other families, but I just haven’t wanted to sit in front of my computer every night working. I’ve wanted to go to bed early or stay up late watching Stranger Things, The Handmaid’s Tale and Outlander. I’ve been reading a real book, the kind that I actually have to turn the pages on, I’ve been just sitting with my kids and I have been planning more camping trips. The downtime has been good for my brain. The hustle was starting to eat away at all things good about this job and my life.

The downtime also sparked my want for some personal projects. Things to work on just for me. Things to feed my soul and my creativity with no pressure of a deadline. Things to spark the interest. When you are a creative, it’s hard to balance those things you have to do and those things you want to create. Your brain is always on and filled with things to make and do, making those things you have to do even harder. Making the time to work on things for ourselves is really important. When shooting just for myself, my mind clears, the day stretches on and I see angles, light, and people in a whole way. Then my personal projects bleed into my client work and that’s where the magic happens.

And after you contact me, then read through September’s blog circle and see what everyone else is up to. Let’s start with Erin Berry {Family Photographer, Central PA}

    I absolutely love these shots! You have some great street photography in you! I know how you feel about the busy-ness of fall. I was looking forward to a small break but all summer has been so busy and I am already looking at an insane fall schedule already. Then it will be Christmas… gah. Pass the coffee please!

Tell me how much you love this!
